What merging keeps

Pages are copied with their own resources, so text, images, fonts, links and annotations come across unchanged. Form fields from each file are kept; if two files use the same field name, a viewer may treat them as one field, so fill forms before you merge them.

Encrypted files that open without a password (many official forms are like this) are decrypted on your device first. Files that need a password must be unlocked with it before merging.

Bookmarks from the source files are not carried over yet.

Steps

  1. Add two or more PDFs (or drop them on the page).
  2. Drag or use the arrows to set the order.
  3. Press Merge.
  4. Download the combined PDF.

Limits, stated plainly

  • Bookmarks (the outline) of the source files are not merged.
  • Very large merges are limited by your device’s memory; the page warns you before you start if a file looks too big for this browser.
Already have Preview or Edge? On a Mac, Preview can merge: open the first PDF, show thumbnails, and drag the other files into the sidebar.
