Nothing loads until you add a file. Then the engine starts in a Web Worker in this tab.

Known password only

This tool removes encryption using the password you type, with qpdf on your device. It does not guess, crack or bypass passwords, and it never will: if you do not have the password, ask whoever sent you the file.

Files that open without asking for a password but are still “encrypted” (common for official forms with edit restrictions) are handled automatically: just add the file and unlock with the password field empty.

Steps

  1. Add the protected PDF.
  2. Type its password.
  3. Unlock.
  4. Download the unprotected copy.

Limits, stated plainly

  • Only removes protection you are able to open. No password recovery.
Already have Preview or Edge? Opening the file in Chrome or Edge with the password and choosing Print → Save as PDF also saves an unprotected copy (as a re-printed file).

Engine: qpdf (WebAssembly) in a Web Worker, with pdf-lib as a fallback. Your file is not uploaded; check it yourself.
