Form I-130A, Supplemental Information for Spouse Beneficiary, is filed together with a Form I-130 when a U.S. citizen or permanent resident petitions for a spouse. It collects the spouse beneficiary's own background: names, addresses for the last five years and the last address abroad of more than a year, parents' information, and employment for the last five years, inside or outside the United States. It is not a separate petition and has no filing fee of its own; it rides with the I-130 and shares its instructions (one combined I-130/I-130A instruction booklet). The spouse signs it if they are in the United States; a spouse who lives overseas still completes it but is not required to sign.

How to file Form I-130A

Our fill: in testing

With an online I-130

When the petitioner files I-130 through a USCIS online account, the spouse information is part of that filing. Follow the online account's prompts.

Open on uscis.gov

With a paper I-130

Mail the completed I-130A in the same package as the I-130, to the address on uscis.gov/i-130.

“Form I-130A must be submitted with Form I-130.”

Open on uscis.gov

With a PDF-uploaded I-130

If the I-130 is filed by PDF upload, include the I-130A in the upload; any signature must be a wet-ink signature on the PDF.

Why our filler is off for this form: USCIS says its forms are optimized for Adobe Acrobat Reader, and part of this PDF is read-only by design (copied headers, barcodes, signature boxes). We turn our fill on per form only after the output re-opens in Acrobat Reader with every value intact and a matching barcode. Until then, Adobe Reader on a computer is the free tool USCIS points to.

Print, sign in ink, scan, send

USCIS does not accept signatures made by software, so the dependable path is paper first, then a clean PDF under the online limit. Every step below runs in your browser.

  1. PrintThe official I-130A PDF from uscis.gov, every page from the same edition.
  2. Sign by handIn the signature box, in ink. USCIS: “USCIS does not accept signatures created by a typewriter, word processor, stamp, auto-pen, or similar device.”
  3. Scan to PDFPhone camera pages, deskewed and cleaned, in this tab.
  4. MergeForm and evidence in the order the instructions ask for.
  5. Under 12 MBCompressed to the USCIS online upload limit, with a preview first.
